Self-archiving and open access policy
As long as it does not conflict with Pion's commercial interests, the author retains the right to use the version of their article prior to peer review—a preprint—provided they give full acknowledgement of the published original, for the internal educational or other purposes of their own institution or company; mounted on their personal or university web page; in whole or in part as the basis for their own further publications or spoken presentations.
In addition, they may post a version of their article incorporating changes made during peer review—a postprint—to a free public institutional or subject repository, not sooner than twelve months after publication in the journal. Any such version must clearly state that the article is not the final print version and must include the following notice: “[Name of author(s), year]. The definitive, peer-reviewed and edited version of this article is published in [name of journal], volume, issue, pages, year, [DOI]”.
